Miss Delaware is an angel! My 17-year-old daughter has alopecia areata( since 7th grade) and just began wearing a wig in April of this year, after a year of all over extensions and three years of increasingly shorter haircuts to 'blend' with the decreasing hair. She has been on medication for anxiety and has not publicly shared her condition. I have shared with some of the mothers of her friends who are in the marching band with Ali. Allison is very fearful of people knowing what she has; I feel that her friends would embrace her struggle and share her burden, so to speak. We will start band practice in a couple of weeks, and I'm worried about the heat stress of wearing a wig. We practice outside in the Georgia heat for seven hours each week during marching season. We are also preparing for our appearance in the Tournament of Roses Parade on Jan. 1, 2011, which will mean extra hours of marching training for the 5-mile-parade in Pasadena. I just learned of Miss Delawars this evening and have not shared with Ali. I am going to bed with prayers that this revelation will be THE impetus that she needs to face her senior with her head held high (with or without a wig). THANK YOU for allowing God to use you. Many blessings to you!!! With utmost gratitude,
Gail
